Check out this unique teaching method where the instructor leads students to create a public relations campaign for a local nonprofit. So, the town and gown aspect is impressive, and students learn 21st century skills including teamwork (as the entire project is completed by four-person teams), creativity and research analysis, as well as both written and oral presentation skills (teams compete to present the campaign the client chooses to enact). Students are also responsible for professional communication with their real-world client.
